3 Reminders For When You’re Doubting Yourself.

3 Reminders For When You’re Doubting Yourself.

Today I woke up feeling deflated. It can be easy to fall into a spiral of self-doubt, especially when we spend a lot of time scrolling, comparing, and skipping the rituals we know make us feel good.
In these moments, I come back to tools that change my perspective, allowing me to shift my state in a moment and pick myself back up. Here are three reminders that immediately changed how I felt about myself and altered the trajectory of my day. These reminders are always here for you too, whenever you need them.

1. You Are You, and That is Your Power

Understanding Your Unique Strengths
Often, we sit and scroll, comparing parts of ourselves to others. The more we compare, the more we forget about our own unique strengths and abilities. You have something special within you, something unique to you. Spend less time consuming and thinking about others and more time discovering what makes you, you. We seem to spend time studying everything but ourselves.

Questions to Reflect On:

  • What are you interested in?
  • What brings you joy?
  • What are your strengths?
  • What skills and talents do you have?
  • How have you made a positive impact on the people around you?
  • How could you expand more of your unique gifts and strengths?

2. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway – Action is the Antidote

Overcoming Self-Doubt
The voice of self-doubt can make following our dreams feel overwhelming and scary. When we listen to the inner critic that tells us we aren’t good enough and allow it to hold us back, a downward spiral of insecurity can take over.

Taking Action:
Action quietens the voice of self-doubt. When we feel the fear and do it anyway, we expand our comfort zones by showing ourselves what is possible. As we continue to take steps forward, our inner critic loses its power.
In moments of doubt, take action in the direction of your dreams, the person you want to become, and the life you want to lead. Whether big or small, action is the antidote.

Visualize Breaking Barriers:
Imagine an ant trapped in a ‘pen circle.’ We can see that the ant can travel out of the circle with ease. Our self-doubt acts as the ‘pen circle’ in our minds, an invisible barrier keeping us small. When we take action and step out of the circle, we see that it was an illusion all along and instead, give ourselves the opportunity to flourish.

3. Seek Markers of Possibility – If They Can Do It, You Can Do It Too

Finding Inspiration in Others:
Doubt can make us feel alone on our journey. We feel as though we aren’t capable or enough. Comfort is found in knowing that someone, somewhere has done what you hope to do. When we listen and read about others who have started small and overcome challenges to ultimately create wellness and success in their lives, we're reminded of the strength that lives within each and every one of us.

Learning from Role Models:
Seeking guidance from those people makes the path become a little clearer. Finding role models reminds us that our dreams are possible. If they can do it, you can do it too. Limiting beliefs can create doubt, yet our mentors become markers of possibility by expanding our minds, reminding us of what is possible when you persevere and believe.

Come back to these reminders whenever the feeling of not being good enough, smart enough, or capable enough overwhelms you. Let this remind you that you are enough exactly as you are. The doubt in your mind is lying to you. Keep moving forward, keep growing, and keep supporting and uplifting yourself along the way.
